Action/adventure films is usually aimed at the male audience aged 18-25. The use of violence and weapons devotes this boystrous behavior, which boys usually relate to more than girls

The male audience is usually drawn to violence, such as car chases, guns, fights and explosions. Unlike females, who prefer romantic comedies and "girly" typed things, males prefer the thrilling adventures that keeps them on edge for the film

Take fast and furious for example, (Brian O'Conner, now working for the FBI in LA, teams up with Dominic Toretto to bring down a heroin importer by infiltrating his operation.)-IMDB. This contains exhilarating car chases and explosions, which would appeal to the male audience. 

Action films tend to be aimed at the middle class. They usually have disposable income, to see a film at a particualar time. In addition, the middle class may have more time on their hands and may not have as many commitments.

In action films, the characters tend to be mainly male aswell, so this would attract a male audience also. The actors/actresses tend to be from varying ethnic backgrounds, so this attracts audiences internationally.
