Action Film opening scenes

Bond's loyalty to M is tested when her past comes back to haunt her. Whilst MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.-(IMBD)



The opening scene to Skyfall begins with a motorbike chase between Bond and a antagonist. We see Bond wearing a tanned coloured suit and a black gun in his hand. This conforms to the stereotype of a "Spy" as they are seen to be professional and sophisticated. The setting is set in Istanbul,Turkey, where Bond is trying to catch the middle-eastern antagonist. The chase is thrilling and exhilarating, it keeps the audience on their seats, and gives a stereotypical convention of a action film. On the right,we see a medium shot of Bond on a vehicle, in the middle of a busy, urban setting. The village is highly populated, suggesting that the catch of the antagonist will be difficult. 

On the right there is a medium shot of bond on the motorbike again. This is more effective than the other picture, as we can see more of the background. Seeing the background is significant as we can see where the action is taking place. It also gives the audience an insight to if their is a war or a conflict going on, which would contribute to the reason why they are in a car chase in the first place. 


on the left,  is a behind the scenes shot of Bond trying to grab hold of a carriage on the train. This is effective, as you can see the camera in the corner.So it helps me to see how cameras are used to show people in need of help.  




Here, there is a low angled shot of bond, looking down into the carriage of a train. This shot is effective, as it makes the audience feel like they are in Bonds position. The use of the wreckage, bordering the shot, makes it more effective, as it makes it more sinister and daunting. 

Bonds body language also insinuates that he is in danger, as his hands are outwards, suggesting he is uses his arms for balance.

In conclusion, the opening to skyfall, is action packed and exhilarating. The use of a car chase at the beginning throws the audience into the deep end, of a action packed and thrilling experience.
