Opening two minutes to a film review

The Duff:
For my opening two minutes, i decided to watch Ari Sandels "the Duff". This film is about a typical American high school, and how labels determine people. The opening scene begins with a high angle shot/establishing of the school where the film is set. The director has shown us this to tell the audience where the film is being set and gives us an insight to the environment of where the film is situated. The shot also starts to zoom into the school, which suggests that it is a significant place in the film.  The second shot I chose was of the three main characters in it. Its a medium shot and the camera is moving with the girls at the same time they are walking. Which gives the effect of them walking towards the camera.  The next shot i chose was an over the shoulder shot, it has 2 girls in a medium shot between two girls shoulders. I thought this was an effective shot that the director used to show the all the characters in one shot.

Long shot
The film progresses, and one of the girls is throwing a party. The whole year goes, and the director has thought well about the camera angles. There is many medium shots with the main characters waist up, and many long shots, of the house and the people dancing. One of the girls in the film is considered the "mean" one. In one particular shot, the camera is a high angle shot, which makes her look more empowering and significant than the other characters.

Establishing shot of the school.
